Sorry about the weekend posts. We were a lot busier than anticipated and with my brother down, I wanted to spend time with him as much as I could so I missed the second Saturday Special in a row and the Sunday Social. :( I know I could do them now but to me, it's just not the same if I don't do it on the correct day like everyone else! lol.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

This is a fun weekly link-up with Patrice at Everyday Ruralty!

Do you like beans? (the dried bean variety) What do you like them in?

No way, Jose! The only way I can tolerate beans is a little bit of refried beans at a Mexican restaurant!

Does your house have enough storage?

Yes and No. lol. Inside there is plenty of storage, I just need to get some shelves together and get some closest space maximized. But, I say no because we don't have a garage yet so my husband's stuff doesn't have enough storage spots. =(

Do you have any childhood memories of a store?

Yes! I remember a long time ago, I was at my grandmother's house and she said we were going to a store and I remember we pulled up at Bacon's (you know, the chain that is long gone) and I remember laughing a lot because the name was Bacon's!!!

Do you ever shop at a farmers market?

Yes! We have one a mile down the road from our house and it's the most popular one in the area and man the veggies and fruit tastes sooo good!

Do you still have your wisdom teeth? Are you wise? :) :) :)

Yes I still have mine! I like to think I am wise! Haha!!

Lisa's Tree is One!

I can't believe it's been 1 whole year since the idea for this slice of internet cake came into my mind! Granted I did take a break for a while, it's understandable because this year has been one of the most eventful years of my life thus far. So many good and bad things have happened. I am just so thankful for this blog and what it is becoming for me as well as the blessing of being able to run it and all that that entails. This is a creative outlet to me and a way to document everything I want, down to the smallest things and when my kids grow up, they will have this website to scroll through and enjoy! I am in no way trying to keep up with all the "Big Bloggers" and may God bless them because anyone who says running a major blog is easy, clearly has NO idea. There is so much involved and I don't want a blog that will stress me out. I want a place to share things and meet new people I would have otherwise never known and chat with old friends and new friends too. So if you are reading this, I am thankful for you and for whatever relationship we have and I want you to grab a shady spot, take a piece of birthday cake in the form of a post you haven't read yet, and please remember that you can leave a comment and we can always chat!

                         ┌iiiii┐ Happy Birthday!!Happy Birthday

Wednesday Hodgepodge - Mother Edition!

Linking up with Joyce again! I look forward to this each week!

1. Share something you appreciate (or something you appreciated as you were growing up) about your mother.

Her kindness! I got my big heart from her!

2.  A quote most commonly ascribed to Plato reads "Necessity is the mother of invention." When did this last play out in your own experience?

Monday when I decided I was going to "make" some small curtains for our sunroom windows until we could get the ones we are going to use. Yeah...that "invention" didn't turn out right. I sure DID NOT inherit my mothers sewing abilities, sadly. I am not even going to show a picture of the mess that turned out! LOL!!

3. Share one of the earliest memories you have from childhood.

Playing hide and seek in my grandmother's house with my cousins. She died when I was 10 (1994) but I remember that house well enough that I could recreate it exactly. That house will always have a special place in my heart!

4. When did you last 'hit the mother lode'? What was it?

I would have to say it was when I met my husband and my children and I were accepted into one of the most loving families I have ever seen. I will forever be thankful of them all!

5. What is/was your favorite dish mom made? Do you make that dish for your family/friends now that you're all grown up?

She used to make a baked pork chop dish with cubed potatoes at the bottom and cream of mushroom soup/sauce all over it. When it was done the potatoes and pork chops would be sooo tender and had absorbed the sauces and its so delicious! I do make it now and everyone except my husband likes it because he is extremely picky and doesn't like mushrooms. I don't like them either but you can't taste them in this dish, just the creamy goodness from the soup!

6. Mother May I? was at one time a popular children's game. It required no equipment or parts to play. What was your favorite childhood game where you could just turn up and play-no gear needed?

I am thinking it would have been that same game! I remember playing that alot!!

7. Which TV mom (past or present) is your favorite, and why?

Oh there are so many that are close to my heart. I think of Roseanne, Jill Taylor (Home Improvement), Becky (Full House)...That's all I can think of right off the top of my head but I feel like I'm forgetting some...

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I am excited for Mother's Day and another get together with the family! It's always a good time!

Friday Faves and Fotos!

I can't resist a good rundown of this on Friday. I admit I sing it at least once a Friday!
It's so bad, it's hilarious!

Yay for Friday! Especially when my hubby doesn't have to work Saturday!

Wednesday marked the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls so I am starting to get the feeling that I am getting old, LOL! (I'm 29)

This is pretty accurate! I am sure Pitch Perfect could maybe make the cut for the 10's
decades of mean girls. I watched "Heathers" yesterday and it is still hilarious.. and the 90's one should've been "Jawbreaker"...

Oh and we can't forget about this awesome time that comes once a year! I love it!

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA. can't believe how fast senior year has gone, and this just makes my night, hahahahahha.

I love the blog Finding Joy blog. She writes some amazing Dear Mom Letters that help rest the hearts of all moms, letting us know we are all in this together and we are not doing it wrong. Her most recent post 24 Awesome Things Moms Do hits the nail right on the head and I agree with each one! Please go check her out!

I have been participating in a monthly instagram photo challenge and it's really fun! It sparks your creativity as you try to find unique ways to photograph the phrase of the day! Here is the link! You should join in!
Here are the prompts:

Here is what I have so far. I will recap them each Friday!

Pictures of the week!

My husband loves turtles and I love owls. I was at a local store a while back and found these two "Lucky Charms" as they are called. Each came with a tiny little card saying how you carry them in your pocket and they bring you good luck. I just have them sitting on my shelf though and they are so adorable and special!

The hubs wasn't feeling too well the other day and wanted to lay on the loveseat and just watch movies and Lily decided to join him. They watched Hercules together! Yes, it was adorable.

We have to go to the end of the road to pick up the big girls from the bus stop and once we got down there, we were a little early so I let Lily get out of her car seat and sit up front and she thought it was the funnest thing ever while sitting there waiting!

I walked out of the bathroom the other day and looked up and this is exactly what I saw. I'm not sure if it is an intentional guard dog put there but either way, it's pretty funny. I just had to wonder what are two cats thought while sitting at the bottom of the stairs. Probably, "To go upstairs or not to go upstairs" lol!
Please disregard the horrible carpet on the stairs. For some reason the people that lived here before we bought the house decided to lay new floors through most of the house but left carpet on the stairs. That's a project for a later date though. I am thinking something like these:

IHeart Organizing: Secret Stairs: How to create wood stairs on constructions grade particle board

That's all I have for this weeks roundup. Leave a comment if you would be interested in joining me for a link up every week like this one OR if you know of someone who already does this that I can link up with I would love to know!! Thanks!!
